Ethiopia: IGAD Congratulates Dr Tedros On His Appointment As Foreign Minister

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has congratulated Dr Tedros Adhanom on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.

The Executive Secretary, Engineer Mahboub Maalim, on behalf of the IGAD family, the Secretariat and himself, congratulated Dr. Tedros "most heartily, on your appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia."

He said he was assured that "your great achievement as Minister of Health, which is recognized worldwide, will be replicated in your new post." The Executive Secretary added: "I look forward to your leadership as the Chairperson of IGAD Council of Ministers." Dr Tedros Adhanom was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on November 29th.

He served in a number of technical posts in the Ministry of Health prior to his appointment as Minister of Health in 2005.
