President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have been asked to speed up the appointment of the inspector of police.
The Constitution Implementation Commission chairman Charles Nyachae yesterday said Parliament has to approve the name before it goes for recess.
He said that the security of nation is paramount before and after the elections saying that is why they should carry out the appointment soon.
"We don't want the country to go into elections in a state of confusion, so it is important that all the necessary mechanism is put in place," Nyachae added. He was addressing the press after he registered as a voter at Kisii Primary School.
The chairman said he does not want the country to experience a repeat of the 2007-08 post-election violence because inadequate security preparations. Nyachae urged political leaders to inform the public on the importance of registering as voters to participate the March 4 general election.
