Kenya: Winner to Sell Car for Hubby

A small scale tea farmer, 76-year-old woman Elizabeth Wanjiru from Othaya yesterday won a Nissan Vanette car in the Bamba Shares Ushinde raffle competition.

Wanjiru, who has had a lifelong dream of owning a car said she will have to sell it as she is too old to drive. She said she will use the money to pay medical bills for her sick husband, 79 year old Zacharia Karanja as well as make their life easier.

Wanjiru, from Kihome village in Othaya received the keys from the Wananchi Sacco chairman Geoffrey Kagondu and Sacco CEO Edward Kinyungu. Wanjiru, who joined the sacco 18 years ago.
