Kenya: HELB to Go After Loan Defaulters

Higher Education Loans board defaulters are denying needy students access to higher education,the board's chief collector Prof Joseph Kimura has said.

Speaking during the launch of the Mt Kenya University Nairobi campus alumni association Kimura said the board would relentless pursue the defaulters to ensure they repaid the loans.

He asked the university to uphold and protect the quality of its education programmes. The university's deputy VC Chegge Mugai said the University will put up a research center.

The association's interim chairman, Wambu Miano commended the university's post graduate programs. "The experience has been a game changer in our lives and a breakthrough in our endeavors," said Miano.
