Kenya: Siblings Horsey and Alex All Set for Coast Rally This Sunday

Fast-paced Peter Horsey and his younger sibling Alex are so far the latest entrants for Sunday's GA Insurance Coast Championship Rally in Mombasa.

The two will be among the star attractions in their crowd pleasing Datsun "Moto Moto" pick up which they are currently fine-tuning for the coast show. "Yes Alex and I are planning to do the Coast Rally together in the Datsun, swapping stages like we used to do years ago in the Corolla. We are trying to get the car prepared now so fingers crossed we can sort it out before the rally," said Peter. The Horseys' partnership, last seen in the 2004 season, is set to hand the Mombasa Motor Club (MMC) organized event a major boost, considering that the "fast and furious" brothers belong to the first tier KNRC Division 1 group of drivers in the WatSpot ranking.

This is the second Dutsun to be entered for the event. The first was the1600sss model that will be driven by Shazz Group team of Riyaz Shiraz and Gurveer Pandhal. Among those expected are coast champion Naushad Kara, Izhar Mirza and 2011 Division 2 champion Onkar Sing Rai from Eldoret. Hapz Sagoo "Hapz" and Harvinder Dhanjal "Haru" are driving a Subaru Impreza N10 .

Another interesting entry is that of the Range Rover Ebowler which will be driven Adin Haq and his partner Stuart Cohen. The Range Rover and the "Moto Moto" recently participated in the KCB Guru Nanak Rally.

This event will cover 150km competitive distance, starting at 06.30am from Likoni and encircling Mombasa via Mariakani, Mazeras and Ngu Tatu. There will be a Sunday afternoon Spectator Special at Ngu Tatu. Rally cars will then proceed to prize giving at Lighthouse Mama Ngina Drive Mombasa. Scrutineering for the rally will be held on Saturday at Lighthouse Mama Ngina from 3pm. This rally is expected to attract all the Mombasa-based drivers including Naushad Kara, Izhar Mirza, Sudesh Hirani "Hakuuz", Nadeem Kana who is the 201 2 Wheel Drive Kenya National Champion.
