Dutse — The Jigawa State government has spent over N400 million on free eye treatment in the state between 2007 and now. This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Health, Dr. AbubakarTafida, at the ongoing free eye treatment in Dutse, the state capital.
He said 24,000 people have benefited from the free treatment so far while 25,000 patients were given free eye glasses. Dr. Tafida said the ongoing exercise targets 3000 people across the state.
Tafida thanked Non Governmental Organizations and donor agencies who have been active in creating awareness on various eye diseases across the state, adding that the government will do whatever is possible to reduce cases of blindness to its barest minimum.
