Lawyer Amie Bensouda has been released on bail 48 hours after news of her detention surfaced, impeccable sources confirmed to Foroyaa Newspaper.

Although In-depth details of her bail status has not been divulged at press time, but her release was secured having met attached police bail terms facilitated by her sympathizers, it emerged.

Reached yesterday night, Sheriff Tambedou, President of Gambia Bar Association confirmed Madam Bensouda's release on bail.

A senior member of the Gambia lawyers' branch, Bensouda was defense council of GAMCOTRAP duo accused of theft with a multiple of other charges - a case the defendants won thus their acquittal and discharge.

The female lawyer was picked up by plain clothes at her Kololi home on Monday December 3rd at 22:00hrs, it is alleged.

Madam Bensouda's arrest, detention and release on bail come hot on the heels of arrest fever of high profile personnel gripping the country of recent. Her arrest coincides with Imam Baba Leigh's apprehension on the same whose whereabouts is still at publication, in mystery. She is however to report to the police, our source said.
