Somalia: Tika Destroys Security Equipment for Shabelle Radio Station

press release

Mogadishu — The administration of Shabelle Radio station announced that TIKA organization will take responsibility for any insecurity incident at the compound after destroying its protection facility.

Early on Thursday bulldozers run by TIKA with armed freelance militia destroyed security equipment for the independent Shabelle Radio station in Mogadishu.

The private army have cordoned off the compound of the station and swept the entire security barricades that were built for protection purpose. Officials in Somalia government and Shabelle Media administration spoke to TIKA to stop the demolition.

Unfortunately, TIKA has challenged and refused to take the call by Somali government officials and the station's authority over the devastation action against the security barriers for Shabelle Radio in Mogadishu.

According to the statement, former Al shabab members were involved in the demolition action on Thursday and that drew suspicion of possible attack against the building of Shabelle Radio.
