A standard eight pupil in Teso North yesterday sat her KCPE examinations in the labour ward for the second day running. The 16-year-old Aloete Primary School girl in Kolanya location was rushed to Malakisi Health Centre on Monday night after developing labour pains. She sat for mathematics and english papers on Tuesday while in labour. She remained in the labour ward yesterday as she for Science and Kisawhili papers.
Angurai education officer Berita Emachar and school head teacher, Ham Etyang quickly arranged for papers to be ferried to hospital. Emachar bought exam materials including geometrical set to enable the girl sit for her maths paper.
Examination invigilator Florence Idionyi said the candidate was in upbeat mood even though she was in pain, adding that they are informed on the girls condition by the officer in in charge of the hospital. The school has 28 candidates for this year's exam including 21 girls and seven boys.
