Kenya: 35 Pupils Fail to Sit KPE

THIRTY five students from a private primary school in Mtwapa suffered shock after failing to sit for their KCPE on Tuesday. They had been registered for the KCPE, failed to sit for exam.

The pupils from Michelle Obama Academy had been registered for the exam despite paying the registration fee. One of the candidates, Mary Kabani, said the 35 students had reported to school early ready for the exam, but found the gate locked.

Shimo la Tewa councillor Bakari Ali urged the ministry to investigate the management of the school and make sure the proprietor is prosecuted for allegedly conning the parents of the students.

Kilifi district education officer Mwasaru Mwashegwa said his office advised the proprietor of the school to register it but the proprietor ignored the advice.
