Kenya: Women Told to Take Out Loans

Women have been blasted for not taking advantage of the 2billion Women Enterprise Fund allocated by government each year.

Speaking yesterday at a leaders forum held at Sky nest Hotel in Kitale, Labour Permanent Secretary Beatrice Kituyi said survey by line ministries have established that the fund has not benefited women since inception in 2007 due to women's fear of taking loans.

"We should stop lamenting that we are marginalized. By not taking advantage of this facility, it is we who have decided to remain poor," she said.
