Gambia: SK Central President Wants Grass At Field

The president of the Serekunda Central Sports Development Committee has said that they wouldn't relent until they make sure that a grass football pitch has been provided at the community's playing grounds.

Omar Danso was speaking to Observer Sports at the Serekunda West Mini-Stadium Wednesday following his side's 3-0 thrashing by Sukuta in their first game in the 2012 edition of The Gambia Football Association organised Super Nawettan Championship.

Danso attributed his team's inability to match the competition from heavyweights in both last year and this year's competition to the late starting of the community's annual Nawettan football. Danso said when the rains start, they have to stop playing because it makes their field unplayable. He added that the only way to address the situation is the provision of a grass pitch.

Concluding the interview, Danso remained upbeat that his side will make an appearance in the finals of the competition come the end of the tournament, and vowed that the heavy drubbing wouldn't make him change his mind.
