Ghana: 84 Registered Persons in Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo Cannot Vote On Friday

Eighty-four registered voters in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District will not be voting on Friday because they registered more than once.

Explaining the situation at a durbar in Nasuan near Bunkpurugu on Thursday, Mr Lawrence Akundikya, District Electoral Officer, said most of them who were in the southern sector of the country during the biometric voter registration, registered there and later registered again in the district.

He told the people that persons who registered but later lost their fingers could still vote even with one finger.

He urged them to be patient and tolerant of each other so as not to start any conflict and disturb the peace. He also advised them to leave the premises of the polling stations after voting so that crowds will not be formed around to disturb the electoral process.

Mr Akundikya said his office had taken delivery of all the electoral material needed for the exercise and had started distributing them as part of final preparation for tomorrow, Friday.

The durbar was organized by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) in collaboration with the Community Advisory Committee (CPAC) in Bunkpurugu to sensitize the people on the election process.
