Nigeria: Man Docked for Allegedly Assaulting a 16-Year-Old Girl

Abeokuta — The police in Abeokuta yesterday arraigned one Tunde Bamigbade, 23, before a Magistrates' Court for assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Augustine Ozimini, said the offence was committed on Tuesday at about 7 a.m. at Isale-Igbein in Abeokuta. He said that the accused accosted the young girl on her way to school at a lonely junction and fondled her breasts.

"Bamigbade was sighted by a passerby when he fondled his victim's breasts as she struggled with him.

"The good samaritan raised an alarm while the accused was apprehended and taken to Ibara police station," he said. Ozimini said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 360 of the Criminal Code of Ogun, 2006.
