Angola: Kongo Kings Museum to Be Expanded in 2013

Mbanza Kongo — The museum of Kongo Kings in Mbanza Kong, northern Zaire province, will be rehabilitated and expanded by next year.

This was announced on Thursday by the Minister of Culture, Rosa Silva e Cruz.

"The museum of Kong Kings is installed in a house that was not constructed to be a museum. It needs various compartments, including the laboratory of conservation and deposit. Meanwhile, we must build these areas, meant to adjust it to the current reality", she said.

The minister said that this work is part of the programme of the Angolan Government, through the Ministry of Culture, meant for the registration of Mbanza Kongo as a world heritage.
