Liberia: Tawana-Liberia Makes Donation

An exploration Company, Tawana-Liberia operating in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County, has presented several sporting materials including cash and rice to the county's local authority ahead of the national county sports meet.

The items include two sets of jersey, four soccer balls, two basketballs as well as US$500 and ten bags of rice for the players of the county as they prepare for county meet in January 2013.

Making the presentation on Wednesday in Robertsport, TAWANA-Liberia Exploration Manager Rockson Coffie promised that his company will continue to invest in Grand Cape Mount because he believes in the county and its people.

He noted that TAWANA-Liberia has decided to support the youth through sports especially for the upcoming county tournament.

"If the team emerges as a winner or runners up, the company will be more encouraged to help develop the football team of Grand Cape Mount", he assured the county team.

Mr. Coffie said although the company is yet to start exploration in the county, the donation is part of its social corporate responsibilities to the community.

He added that the company reconstructed two bridges in the Sinje community which amounted to over US$16,000.

Mr. Coffie maintained that as exploration is expected to commence January 2013, the company will consider investing in other sectors like health and education to help push the county in the right direction for development.

Receiving the items, Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Abraham Passaway thanked TAWANA for the contribution to the county's team, and termed the donation as timely.

Mr. Passaway said the gesture is an indication that the exploration company has gone beyond its call of duty and scope of operation.
