Namibia: Safland Appoints Van Jaarsveld

Safland Namibia has announced the appointment of Desmond van Jaarsveld as Managing Director effective 1 November 2012.

Born and raised in Walvis Bay Van Jaarsveld completed his graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch.

He joined NSX-listed Namibia Breweries and part of the O&L Group of Companies in 1999, as Product Development Manager and later also served as Managing Director for Namibia Dairies (Pty) Limited and Namibia Breweries Limited from 2005 until 2011.

Van Jaarsveld expressed his delight with the appointment and said: "I am very excited and honoured to be associated with the passionate and energetic team at Safland. Safland's track record in delivery and execution of world class projects in a very short time is clearly setting the leading tone in the industry and this momentum will be maintained in the years to come."

Kallie van der Merwe, CEO of the Safland Group, welcomed Desmond to this special family.

Safland said the appointment is in line with it's growing ambition to develop smaller rural towns to support Namibia's Vision 2030. Safland's major developments include The Grove in Windhoek, Town Square in Otjiwarongo and Gwashamba Mall in Ondangwa.
