Serekunda Hospital yesterday received donated medical items from one Bob Jones from the United Kingdom. The donated items include shoes, reading glasses, antiseptive wipes, dressings and syringes.
In a brief remark, Musa Mendy of the Ministry of Basic Education said Bob is his friend and has been coming to the Gambia for the past 14years. He explained that since he knows him 10years ago, he has been working in helping the country in not only donating medical items but also building schools. He said presently they are building a school in Lamin Daranka for the community. Mr. Mendy added that similar medical donations were made to AFPRC Hospital in Farafenni, Serrekunda Health Centre and RVTH Hospital. He said Bob was also able to do some renovation at the Hospital. Similar donations were also made to Bakau Health Centre, he said. Mr. Mendy stated that Bob also gave out over thousand t-shirts to schools and to the Disaster Management Committee of Kanifing Municipality. The hospital he went on, need to be supported by the people.
