Uganda: Woman Arrested Attempting to Poison Own Child

A woman who was caught lacing her own child's food with poison and was about to feed it to her has been arrested.

Police at Kisugu arrested Rose Tusemerirwe before she could be lynched by enraged residents of Namuwongo.

The child's father, Justus Tushabe, said he was tipped off by a neighbour Rose Nakafeero, a food vendor that she had seen Tusemerirwe putting what appeared like poison in food she was about to serve to the child.

On her part, Tusemerirwe said the child's father does not give her any financial support yet he spends the money on useless things.

The Police charged her with attempted murder on file number SD:28/29/11/12 before locking her up.
