Africa: United Bank for Africa Named Bank of the Year

United Bank for Africa has been named the bank of the year in Africa by the Banker Magazine. The bank took home the regional award for the continent at the bank awards ceremony in London with other two country awards for Senegal and Cameroon to prove its dominance..

The "bank of the year" is selected based on the overall performance of the financial institution and the opinion of leading financial analysts from the worlds financial markets with the UBA bank being chosen on account of the bank's turnaround to profitability following the write-offs and cleanups of the banks balance sheet in 2011 with innovation cross border, notable consolidation of the banks business across the continent as some of the reasons it won the award.

Commenting on the awards, Group Managing Director UBA Plc, Phillips Oduoza said they validate UBA Group's leadership position in the continent and lends credence to its expansion across Africa and promotion of industry wide excellence in the global banking community.
