Egypt: Govt, S. Korea Seek More Cooperation in Energy Sectors

Following a meeting with South Korean Minister of Energy on Friday 07/12/2012, Minister of Electricity and Energy, Mahmoud Balbaa said that South Korea has offered to cooperate with Egypt in completing studies related to the Egyptian nuclear program and peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The Minister said that the meeting dealt with cooperation programs especially South Korean training courses on nuclear safety.

A top-level delegation of Korean experts is due in Egypt next month to review aspects of cooperation.

On the other hand, the Saudi Fund for Development has agreed to offer Egypt US$200 million to finance renewable energy projects as well as to raise the production capacity of two power stations.
