Egypt: VP - President Willing to Postpone Referendum Provided It Should Not Be Contested

Vice President Mahmoud Mekki said Friday 07/12/2012 that a constitutional referendum, planned on Dec 15, will be held as schedule.

No one can dare to change the date of the constitution except through guarantees of immunizing it against challenges, Mekki told Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr channel.

If the political powers want the referendum's date changed, they should give the constitutional guarantees that the referendum would not be challenged legally, he added.

Mekki said that he was notified about some details of a "coup conspiracy" against President Mohamed Morsi.

The details of this plot will be unveiled in the right time, he added.
