Kenya: Sharawe Decries Low Voter Enrolment in Trans Nzoia

Only 116,000 voters out of the targeted 200,000 have been registered in Trans Nzoia by yesterday, IEBC commissioner Abdullahi Sharawe has said.

Addressing the press in Kitale, Sharawe said Cherengany constituency has registered the highest number of voters in the county.

He said 28,177 voters have been registered in Cherangany, 27,800 in Kiminini, with 24,224 in Saboti and 21,850 in Kwanza.

"It is disappointing that some a BVR kit registers five, seven or ten people daily when we expect it to register at least 50 people daily," he said. He warned that the IEBC may not meet its target of 18 million voters if the trend continues.
