Kenya: AP Officer Shot Dead By Thugs

AN Administration Police officer was on Wednesday evening shot dead by armed gangsters in Narok town. According to the Narok Police boss Peterson Maelo, two officers confronted the robbers who had broken into a supermarket and escaped with cash of an unknown amount.

"The gangsters may have panicked on seeing the officers and shot at the deceased several times on the head before taking his gun," he said.

He said the other officer shot at the gangsters injuring one before they fled to an unknown destination. "We found the injured robber's body yesterday morning in a ditch together with the AP's G3 rifle," he said.

The body was taken to Narok district Hospital mortuary. Police said they have launched a manhunt for the remaining gang members. He assured residents that security has been enhanced in order to reduce criminal activities in the area.
