Eritrea: International Children's Day Commemorated At National Level

Asmara — International Children's Day was commemorated today at national level.

Speaking on the observance event at Bahti-Meskerem square, the Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Salma Hassan, stressed the role of families in nurturing virtuous children, and explained that the Ministry has been working in collaboration with stakeholders on programs targeting families and communities. Moreover, she called on the citizenry as a whole and pertinent bodies to step up efforts towards the realization of the cherished goal.

Dr. Hamd Beshir, UNICEF Representative in Eritrea, pointed out that Eritrea ranks first among the 4 leading African countries that are in a position to control the main life-threatening diseases as regards children.

The event also featured various activities staged by kindergarten and elementary school students.
