Rwanda: RPF Tournament Winner Will Get U.S.$10,000

AS part of the events to celebrate the 25 years of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), a four-team football tournament is planned after which the where the winner will walk away with US$10,000 (about Rwf6.6m) on top of the trophy.

Rwanda will be represented by its two biggest teams APR and Rayon Sport and the two guest teams are; SC Villa (Uganda) and Burundi's most successful team Vital'o.

According to the event spokesman, Arthur Asiimwe, all four teams will go home with something; first runner-up will get US$7,000, US$5,000 for third placed team, while the fourth will receive US$3,000.

"We have a small budget to organise the tournament but we expect to have a good competition," he told a news conference on Friday.

The three-day tournament is planned to start on December 16 at Stade de Kigali with the final set for December 18 at the same venue.

Rwandan league champions, APR FC, will kick off the tournament against Vital'o, while Rayon Sport will play against Villa Sports Club, the following day.
