Kalasha Film and Television Awards will be going down tonight at the KICC. The awards ceremony, whose nominees were announced three weeks ago, will feature new names like Nairobi Half Life's Olwenya Maina who has been nominated for 'Best Supporting Actor' award alongside Shattered star Allan Adika and David Ndugi of Torn Veil. In the 'Best Supporting Actress' category, Mumbi Maina, Eclay Wangira and Irene Kayeri will battle it out for honours in their respective films.
As usual, the most hotly contested categories include the 'Best Actor Award' and the 'Best Actress Award'. Some of the seasoned actors in this category include Rita Dominic, Patricia Kihoro, Amos Odhiambo, Sam Kihiu and the relative newcomer Joseph Wairimu, who played the lead role in the Oscar-contending Nairobi Half Life.
The 'Best Director' category will be another bone of contention, as Tosh Gitonga faces up against Gilbert Lukalia and Robby Bresson. In Television, similar shows KTN's Lies that Bind and NTV's Mali battle for the best show award alongside Higher Learning.
