Momodou Faal, the head of the Daily Observer Health desk, who also doubles as the Gambia coordinator of the African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN), over the weekend left Banjul for Accra, Ghana, where he will be attending a three-day media sensitisation workshop and AMMREN strategic planning.
The meeting which is slated from 9th-12th December ismeant to update AMMREN executives on new trends in malaria research and re-positioning the network as the mouthpiece for malaria advocacy in Africa and also planning the network for the coming year.
Shortly before his departure, Faal told this reporter that the meeting is for AMMREN coordinators who are going to present the works of various countries and the malaria situation and to change the name of the network so that it will not be limited to malaria but other health issues. He thanked the management of the Observer Company for allowing him to attend such an important forum.
