Pretoria — The South African government has congratulated the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, on receiving the international Renaissance Woman of the Year Award 2012.
The Palazzo Strozzi Renaissance Awards is aimed at helping underprivileged teenagers experience Renaissance culture first-hand, and awards the annual prize for the recipient's commitment to cultural and social philanthropy.
"Dr Zuma is an inspiration to all women and a role model to many young African women," said acting Government Communications (GCIS) Chief Executive Officer, Phumla Williams.
"She is determined, courageous, and South Africa is proud of her achievements."
