Morocco: Locals Protest Gender Violence

Hundreds of people formed a human chain in Rabat on Saturday (December 8th) to denounce all forms of violence against women, AFP reported.

"We are here to denounce physical, verbal and moral violence, as well as the harassment of women," a demonstrator said. The protest was organised by "Spring of Dignity", a coalition of 22 groups focused on the defence of women's rights.

"Morocco's laws should be adapted to the international conventions that Morocco has ratified, particularly those dealing with the rights of women," one organiser said.
