President Nelson Mandela had a good night's rest. The doctors will still conduct further tests today. He is in good hands.

Today is also a special day as President Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize on 10 December 1993, International Human Rights Day for his selfless contribution to the struggle for liberation, human rights and justice in South Africa.

The Presidency thanks members of the public for the messages of support to Madiba and family.

We thank the media and the public for affording him, his family and the medical team the necessary privacy and space.
