Kenya: Teenager's Body Found Floating in Lake Victoria

A 17-year-old student who went missing three days ago has been found dead in Mfangano Island in Mbita. The body of George Okinyi, a student at Kakiimba Secondary school was found yesterday morning floating in Lake Victoria.

According to Mfangano chief Patrick Lumumba, the body was found at Yokia Beach next to their home. Lumumba said the body had no visible injuries.

It could not be immediately established whether the boy drowned or was killed before his body was dumped in the lake. He said the student left his family's home on Saturday but the parents never reported he was missing because they thought he was with his friends. A postmortem examination of his body will be conducted later at the Homa Bay District Hospital.
