Kenya: Education Lowers Conflict - Mutula

Minister of Education Mutula Kilonzo has said research shows that higher education levels of education reduce the risk of conflict in society.

He said a 10 per cent increase in secondary school enrolment reduces the risk of conflict by three percent. He said that conflicts, insecurity and instability continue to pose great challenges to the economic, social and cultural development of a country.

Mutula was speaking in Naivasha during the International Workshop on Peace Education held on 4-6 December and that had drawn together ministers and representatives from 15 African countries.
