Police are investigating circumstances under which a security officer at the United Nations Office in Nairobi was murdered and his body abandoned in his car in the outskirts of the city.
The security officer whose identity is being withheld until his next of kin are informed is suspected to have been murdered on Friday evening and his body was only recovered on Saturday. Police did not even know his identity until Sunday afternoon.
The victim is a local working as a security officer at the UN office and had left his work place according to reports. The Officer in Charge of Diplomatic Police Allan Sangoro said initial investigations had established that the security officer could have been strangled to death because there were no stab or gunshot wounds on the body. He said the body is awaiting post-mortem and the report will help establish the actual cause of death even as investigations continue.
