Voter registration: Electoral body to revise voter target as deadline nears.

With only 9 days to the December 18 voter registration deadline, IEBC has been forced to revise its target from 18 million to 12 million registered voters. IEBC is optimistic that it will meet this new target before the December 18 deadline.

By Monday last week, IEBC had registered over 6.5 million voters, translating to 36 per cent of the earlier projected 18 million. Yesterday IEBC is said to have netted about 1.5million more voters.

According to IEBC's official website, Lamu has witnessed the highest voter turn out with 56 per cent followed by Siaya and Murang'a with 50 percent each then Kiambu and Kisumu have 49 per cent each.

Counties with the lowest voter turn out as per the Monday update are Turkana with 11per cent followed by Mandera with 12 per cent, Elgeyo/Marakwet and West Pokot 18 per cent each while Wajir had 19 per cent. So far, Nairobi is leading the pack followed by Kakamega then Nakuru.
