Kenya: Chief Clings to Life After Gem Crash

A provincial administrator was yesterday fighting for his life after a road accident on the Kisumu-Busia highway. Witnesses said Ndere assistant chief Kennedy Amire was speeding on the highway just before the crash.

They said Amire was trying to overtake a sugarcane tractor when the accident occurred. According to Gem DC Caleb Otieno, the chief was rushing to attend a function in Yala town at Madea trading centre.

Ongoma said Amire was left with serious injuries in his head with a broken leg. He was taken to Jalaram hospital in Kisumu by wananchi who were at the scene. The DC warned motorists to observe traffic rules especially at the holiday season.
