Lafia — Lawmakers at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) on Monday morning lowered the impeachment axe they raised against Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura after they claim his government failed to comply with previous resolutions of the House to end the serial gun-related violence that dragged on for months in much of the southern parts of the state.
The House, on November 23, gave the governor seven days to act on their previous resolutions to end the spate of gun violence in the state, as well as address the needs of thousands of victims displaced by the development, or they would invoke Section 188 (1) of the constitution to impeach him. Members had taken turn to lash at the governor for demonstrating clear tolerance to arsonists, and the lack of will to meet the needs of the growing number of displaced persons.
