Gambia: Dahaba Recalled in Mambanyick's Trial

The Banjul Magistrates' Court, presided over by acting Principal Magistrate Baboucarr Secka, Monday granted the application of defence counsel Antouman Gaye, for Bakary Dahaba (third prosecution witness) to appear for further cross-examination in the case involving the state against Mambanyick Njie, the former permanent secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This development followed an application made by the defence counsel for the accused person, Lawyer Antouman Gaye, to recall Bakary Dahaba (the third prosecution witness) for further cros-examination.

Lawyer Gaye while submitting reasons for his application to recall PW3, revealed that after he cross-examined the said witness he came across evidences (documents) which were relevant to the justice in the case.

He finally urged the court to grant the application and for his backing, referred to Section 123 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which gives the court the discretion to do so.

Meanwhile, the case was adjourned to the 13th December 2012 for further cross-examination of PW3 (Bakary Dahaba).
