Rwanda: Tardy Keen On Grassroots Football

RWANDA's technical director Richard Tardy has put much emphasis on promoting grassroots football for under 15, 17, 18 and Under 20s across the country.

Tardy told Times Sport recently, "My ambition is to promote Rwandan football, thus the need to go across the country scouting young players who will be relied upon for junior and senior national teams."

"As technical director, I am scouting young players in Rwamagana, Musanze, Nyamata, Rubavu, and Nyamagabe and other areas so as to raise capable players for the next Under 17 and Under 20 teams for upcoming competitions," added Tardy.

Tardy, assisted by Aloys Kanamugire, are looking at players between the age of 15 and 20 with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Culture.

Tardy helped junior wasps to qualify to the 2011 U-17 World Cup after guiding the team to a second position in the African U-17 Championship.
