Egypt: Mufti - Mixing Partisan Politics, Religion 'Corruptive'

Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa has slammed mixing partisan politics with religion as "a corruption for the (Islamic) faith".

In a statement on Monday 10/12/2012, Gomaa affirmed that the clerics should refrain from politics with its partisan dimension.

"Islam forbids shedding the blood of Muslims in accordance with the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah," Gomaa said.

Gomaa called on all Egyptians to close ranks in order to build a modernized country.
