The Nigerian Army Tuesday disclosed that the Panel of Enquiry set up to unravel the cause and consequences of the recent twin-bomb blasts that rocked the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State was yet to concluded its work.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Mobolaji Koleosho, who disclosed this in a cancelled press conference at Army Headquarters, Abuja, said they had to put all the information within their disposal on hold and postpone the press conference until investigations were concluded.

"We are still investigating and will inform you as soon as the Board of Enquiries concludes with their work," he said.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim, after visiting the scene of the blasts in Jaji, set up a Board of Enquiry to unearth the circumstances behind the unfortunate incident including appropriate disciplinary recommendations.

Consequently, the immediate past Commandant of AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Abdullahi Kure, and his compatriot, the Corps Commander, Infantry, Jaji, Major Gen. Muhammad D. Isa, were replaced to pave way for full scale investigation.

While Isa was still waiting to know his fate, Kure was redeployed by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to NAF Holdings Limited as the Managing Director.

However, the replacement of the two senior military officers over the incident has not gone down well with some sections of the country like the umbrella Muslim organisation in the North, the Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), which accused the military hierarchy of being motivated by ethno-religious considerations.

The military through Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, however, refuted the allegations as diversionary "disservice" to the nation.

Ihejirika explained that redeployment of military commanders in such incidence are not religiously influenced but has been a long-held practice that affects any officers of both Muslim and Christian.

He also disclosed that several arrests has been made in connection with the blast and will be made public as soon as the Boards of Enquiries finishes with their investigations.
