Nigeria: Jibwis Denies Plan to Attack Bauchi Christian Community

Jos — The headquarters of Izalatul Bidi'a Wa ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) yesterday said the Muslim organisation had never planned to attack the Christian community in Bauchi as erroneously published in a national daily (not Daily Trust).

JIBWIS's National Publicity Secretary Ahmed Muhammad Ashiru, who spoke to newsmen in Jos yesterday, said the story published yesterday was "malicious, highly misrepresented and a calculated attempt to smear the image of the Izala which has been built over three decades".

Ashiru also said the religious body has no links with Boko Haram, saying its headquarters was already consulting with its lawyers to advise them on how to approach the issue.
