Kenya: Drug Firm Sets Up Sh935 Million Plant

LABORATORY and Allied Pharmaceuticals have opened a new US$11 million (Sh935million) facility to increase its production capacity.

Laboratory and Allied Pharmaceuticals managing director, Manesh Patel said the new plant has met all WHO standards which ensures that all products are of high quality.

"The opening of this new facility embodies our commitment to lead in the way of providing quality, affordable medicines to Kenya and beyond our borders," Patel said.

The new factory on Mombasa Road will increase the current production capacity by 4 times besides employing more Kenyans from the current 500 persons.

The company has operated in Kenya for the last 40 years and has managed to export its products to Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda as part of its substantial market.
