Mali: PM Resigns After Junta Arrest

Malian PM resigns after junta arrest Malian Prime Minister Cheick Modibo Diarra formally resigned on Monday (December 10th), AFP reported. He was arrested late Monday near Bamako while trying to leave the country.

"I, Cheick Modibo Diarra, I resign with my government," the out-going prime minister said in a short message on national TV station ORTM.

Last week-end, Diarra organised a demonstration to demand international intervention to reclaim northern Mali.
