Tanzania: Zanzibar Set for Digital Switch

Zanzibar — ZANZIBAR is at an advanced stage to switch to digital television, the Minister for Information, Mr Said Ali Mabrouk, has said.

"The change to digital television is part of a technology evolution, we are on right track," the minister said in a consultative meeting with President Ali Mohamed Shein.

He said that his ministry with the support of development partners have been transforming to digital television by the end of this month. Mr Mbarouk appealed to Zanzibaris to get prepared from the migration as per regional and international programme.

The minister said that going Digital was inevitable and the Zanzibar government was committed to the changes and that companies should avoid selling decoders to their customers at high prices.
