She spoke yesterday in Abuja that stakehol-ders have identified the poor quality of teachers as one of the reasons for poor performance in examinations.
Rufa'i, who opened the West African Regio-nal Workshop on Curriculum Innovation and Teacher Capacity Building, said both issues were captured in the four year plan of the ministry.
UNESCO Director and Country Represen-tative Dr. Joseph Ngu said while Sub-Saharan Africa has made progress in access to education, it has raised the issue of quality.
Minister of State for Education Barrister Nyesom Wike said it was necessary for the Sub-Saharan African region to tackle issues relevant to their common development.
