Nigeria: Winners Emerge in Delta Governor's Cup for Secondary Schools

Winners have emerged in the ongoing Delta Governor's Cup Football competition for secondary schools.

In some of the qualifiers, Technical College, Issele-Uku emerged champions in Aniocha North while Orefe Secondary School of Oghara are the top team in Ethiope West Local Government.

In Ndokwa West, Community Secondary School, Ogume qualified for the next stage just the same way Patani LGA have Oproza Government Secondary School as their champions.

Edjekota Secondary School won the Ughelli North LGA qualifiers to boost their prospect of playing in the next round. In Ukwuani, St. Georges Grammar School are the champions while Warri North, Warri South and Warri South West have Iwere College, Koko, Don Domingos College, Warri and Isaba Grammar School, Isaba as their representatives respectively.

Meanwhile, action returns Wednesday in the other fixtures for local government yet to be concluded.

In Sapele LGA, Ogeide Mixed Secondary School, Ogeidi will slug it out with Ethiope Mixed Secondary School, Sapele. The match is to be played at the famous Okotie-Eboh Grammar School play ground in Sapele.

Emo-eni Grammar School, Ellu will take on Ofagbe Technical College, Ofagbe at the Notre Dame College, Ozoro in the Isoko North LGA qualifier while Ute-okpu Grammar School and Ede Grammar School will battle for the Ika North East Local Government ticket at the Owa Secondary School.

In the battle for the Aniocha South Local Government Area ticket, Comprehensive Secondary School, Ogwashi-uku and St Anthony Secondary School Ubulu-uku have a date to keep .

The last fixture for the Udu Local Government Area ticket is between Oghior Secondary School, Oghior and Otor-Udu Secondary School, Otor- Udu at the Egini Grammar School play ground in Egini.

The maiden Governor's Cup Football Competition for Secondary Schools in the state is aimed at reviving the old football culture among student.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan kicked off the competition last month in Asaba at St. Patrick's College with several former Super Eagles players who are indigenes of the state present to inspire the students.
