Grand Kru County lawmaker, Numeni Batakwa has expressed fear that the use of the national budget in the absence of it being printed in hand bill could create room for corruption in Liberia.

Speaking to reporters in Monrovia Friday, Rep. Batakwa said it was not in the interest of the government and the people of Liberia that government headed by president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf could nearly five to six months in suing the national budget of 2012/2013 without a hand bill.

The printing of hand bill by the executive branch of government will help the lawmakers, government institutions and the public to follow the usage of the budget.

He said but the absent of the hand bill has put the government, the lawmakers and the public at a disadvantage to know how best those responsible to expend state resources were doing it in the best practice of the financial management acts.

He called on members of the Liberian national legislature to began seeking the review of the national budget after the lawmakers shall return from break so as to put in place corrective measure.

He warned that should the budget usage continue in the absence of a hand bill which is constitutional, those government institutions responsible for programs, projects and other mentioned items in the budget of 2012/2013 that targets national development may not be achieved.
