Egypt: Finance Minister - Government Puts IMF Deal On Hold

Minister of Finance Momtaz al-Saeed asserted that a delay in talks on a loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) won't affect the loan decision.

The IMF board was supposed to review Egypt's request on Dec. 19, al-Saeed said.

We have an Egyptian economic and social program, and it seems that some have misunderstood the measures, so the president decided to give more time for societal dialogue to stress that the measures won't harm the low-income classes.
