Rwanda: Kicukiro, Kigali Lift Regional Trophies

Kicukiro basketball Club and Kigali Volleyball Club emerged winners of the East Africa Local Authorities Sports and Cultural Association (EALASCA) titles held recently in Nakuru, Kenya.

KVC beat Kenya A 3-1, Kenya A 3-1 and Nakuru 3-1 enroute to winning the title, while Kicukiro basketball club eliminated Kenya B 96-15, Nakuru 75-69, and Kenya A 74-47 to emerge the winner.

Kigali Volleyball Club Jean Marie Nsengiyumva, said, "This event offered a good platform for young players to exhibit their talent and gain experience away from home,"

Last year, Rwandan clubs dominated the winning categories. Rusizi District lifted the football category; Kigali City won the women volleyball title, women basketball and athletics; Kicukiro District won the men's basketball; with Karongi District claiming the men's volleyball title.
